We have some amazing space and Y has been asking me to please plant some veggies in the backyard. Um, why yes, of course son, we plant all sorts of delicious and healthy vegetables in the garden! We bought some multi-coloured carrots before from the grocery store and he was so excited to see purple carrots.
Once my dear hubby helps to make some extra space for us to get planting, I’m definitely going to be planting some purple carrots as well as assorted heirloom tomatoes, aaaand we have tons of berries already growing along (blueberries, black berries, strawberries, red currants, black currants, white raspberries, normal raspberries). It is amazing. And delicious. We’re just generally pretty in love with gardening if that’s not clear from out abundance of berry plants and soon to be abundance of vegggies.
Anyway, my very long point is – nice weather means we are so excited to get outdoors so much more and really work in the garden. Gardening is a wonderful way to spend time with your kids as well as encourage healthy eating habits.
Side story: Y loves eating sugar snap peas from the plant. He refuses to eat them store bought.
This spring and summer, I’m very determined to get as much outdoor one on one time with Y in as I can before the new baby comes. Of course, because we live in the Netherlands, nice weather is always short lived and accompanied by days of rain afterwards. So, I created a fun, gardening themed freebie printable!
It’s a very simple shadow matching printable that you can also use to teach your little one vocabulary terms, items that you’ll need for gardening, and simple to do a fun work together! Scroll down below to get your own!
