Using objects, images, manipulatives, etc that kids have a particular interest in is a great way to bring new life into a work that may have been previously skipped over.
For example, Y loves to count, but I can only present counting cards so many times before they get dull to him. It’s not per se that he no longer has a sensitive period for counting, but that I have a role in providing him new and interesting opportunities for working on this skill.
That is why I try to think of new and engaging ways that he can do that – whether it’s new ways to practice counting, new ways to practice pouring, letters, etc.
As we are continuing down our path towards learning numbers and counting, I am sharing a new freebie! Here are some fun transportation themed counting cards featuring airplanes, boats, and more!
