Even though we are expecting to get some ice and freezing weather next week, I am still insisting on preparing spring themed works for our shelves. Hopefully thinking warm, happy thoughts can hurry up the warmer weather. That’s how it works, right?Okay, okay, all kidding aside, I’m super excited for our lovely butterfly themed unit that we have started! Y actually was so insistent on it! I’m really not sure where he got the idea to set up a butterfly theme, but I’m so glad he did.
I had so much fun putting the printables together (check out teachers pay teachers for a sneak peak at the larger butterfly bundle if you want a head start). Y was around while I was printing and prepping the works. He told me that he had a great idea for a work – he would help cut them out and would snap photos of the printables.
Umm, yea, that’s a blogger’s kid right there! It was so adorable though! He did a fabulous job cutting and didn’t snip off any of the actual printables – I just ended up touching up a bit along some of the edges.
For now, here is a look at our beautiful colours of butterflies printables that we are loving! Be sure to keep an eye out for the final bundle and all of the hands on activities we have on the shelves. I’ll be sharing these all soon!
Spring Activities: Butterfly color sorting
Why: This work is wonderful for practicing colors. It does provide a level of difficulty to discern the colors from each other and because each butterfly represents a slightly different shade. These printables should therefore be used with children who already have had an introduction to colors. This set of printables is also wonderful for use as a pre-reading activity!
